How do we decide where AIM students go for their mission field? That is a common question every year - especially at this time of year! Every year we have numerous missionaries e-mail or call our office asking us to send them a team. If approved, the missionaries are invited to come and make a presentation of their work to the AIM class. This year the class saw 21 presentations. After the last presentation the students were given a few days to think and pray about all the choices. We then had a special afternoon of prayer before each student filled out his or her list of preferences.
On these lists the AIMers are asked to give us their top five field choices and top five classmates they would like to work with, along with any fields they don't want to go to as well as classmates they think they would have difficulty working with. That information is then taken and used to form the teams.
Trying to organize all that information into teams becomes very complicated and usually takes the entire month of November. If all goes well, the students will find out who their teammates are and where they will be going by the first week of December. This is usually an exciting time around here and preparation can then begin on raising funds, obtaining visas, and anything else needed in order to make it to that destination. AIM students learn the valuable lesson of walking by faith through the whole process and trying not to worry or get stressed out. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue their training and their Adventures In Missions!
