AIM News 8/2004 - A Summer of Work and Prayer

A Summer of Work and Prayer

As is the case with most educational institutions, AIM experiences a sort of "break" or "off-season" during the summer months, after the previous class leaves in April and before the next class arrives in August (or as was the case this year, late July). This does not mean that the work of AIM is standing still, however. The staff members of AIM spend the summer months praying and preparing for the upcoming class, and helping to arrange for visas and other needs of those students who are arriving on their fields.

This year, the summer months have also seen a number of new changes and improvements that will be enjoyed by the new AIM class. Below are some highlights: -- Rob Hindman ('98)

This summer AIM transitioned its student housing into a new apartment complex. The new apartments, constructed just two years ago, have two bedrooms and two bathrooms each, and are located about three miles from Sunset.

AIM Assistants Nancy Stover (above left), Melanie Partlow and Stacey Callaway (above middle), and others worked on painting selected words on the AIM classroom walls. As a visual reminder of our values in AIM, these messages now surround the students as they study.

AIM Assistant Steve Melton (above right) helped install a window between the AIM classroom and a student computer lab. The computer lab, made possible by a generous donor, includes two computers and a printer, to which the students will be able to print wirelessly from their laptops in the classroom.

Construction has been progressing on a new Family Life Center that the Sunset church is building. Scheduled for completion in late September, the new facility will be available to AIM for banquets, graduations, and various student activities throughout the year.
