AIM News 04/2003 - March Madness

March Madness

In March the entire AIM class left Lubbock one more time for a wonderful week that would end with one of their most memorable events. First we spent several days with the Lamar Avenue Church of Christ in Paris, Texas. The AIM students made a great impression on the congregation as they worked with their children's Tuesday school, Latch Key program and various other ways we found to help serve that congregation. We enjoyed breakfast at Gene Stallings' home where he also gave a motivational lesson from his experience as a former Alabama and Dallas Cowboys football coach.

From Paris we traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma to attend the Tulsa International Soul Winning Workshop. The members of the Jenks Church of Christ once again took care of all our housing. What a wonderful lesson for the AIM students to see how good God's people are everywhere we go. One reason for going to Tulsa is to recruit new students. We put up our display booth and visited with as many people as we could about the AIM program. We met several there who plan to be a part of the new class starting August 2, 2003. The highlight came on Friday night when we were privileged to present the AIM students to those at the workshop with our flag presentation. As each AIM team was called the students would walk down the aisle carrying the flag of the nation to which they are going. Once all 10 teams were presented the entire audience gave them a standing ovation. What an emotional event! It is a memory the students will always carry with them. It was encouraging to see how much the audience appreciates what these young people are doing all around the world!
