AIM News 04/2003 - Camp Adventure Week 2003
Camp Adventure Week 2003
There are certain events that take place every year that are extremely important for current AIM students. There are others that are especially significant for young people who are not currently AIMers, but who are interested in missions opportunities. And there is one event that falls into both of these categories.
Camp Adventure week is a week-long event in which high-school and college-age young people come to Lubbock to live, worship, serve, learn and play alongside the students of the current AIM class. Current AIM students look forward to it because it is a great opportunity to share what with other young people the things that God has done to bless their lives. "Campers," as we call the visiting young people, look forward to it because it is always a spiritually uplifting time of growth, fellowship and fun.
This year's camp was focused around the theme "Run to Win," and featured guest speakers Eli Hooper (Grass Valley, CA) and Mike Tanaro (Paducah, KY). Around 50 young people came as campers, joining the 40 or so AIM students and a number of other visitors who were around for the week. Besides free time spent hanging out at the AIM apartments and coffee shops, activities during the days included devotionals and lessons, cultural presentations about different AIM fields, community service work, a cultural breakfast by the AIM students going to New Zealand, and a talent show.
Without a doubt, because of God's work in the lives of everyone involved, Camp Adventure week was a great success this year. A number of the campers are planning on being a part of the upcoming AIM class of 2003, and all left feeling blessed to have been a part of the experience.
