Message from Kris
When I ask those who have completed the AIM program to describe their experience, I keep hearing the same thing . . . that it was "life changing" and "eye opening". They have a world vision that they did not have before! Most say that they would not trade their experience for anything in the world, and so I have to wonder how many others could say the same thing if only they had known about AIM and had taken that step of faith. What about you? Are you willing to be used by God on the mission field? The need is so incredibly great! Why not make it your AIM to take the gospel to the world with us ?
Kris Smith (AIM '81)
In 1978, while Kris was in high school, his family moved to Botswana, Africa. He graduated in 1981 and returned to the States to attend the Adventures In Missions (AIM) program. After completing the schooling portion of the program, Kris served as an apprentice missionary in Lesotho, Africa for 18 months. He returned to the States where he then married Barbara. They worked with the church for several years as faithful members, teachers, and Kris served on the mission committee. In 1991, Kris and Barbara returned to the Sunset International Bible Institute where Kris received his certificate in Bible. They then joined several other families in planting a church in Kosice, Slovakia, where they served for four years. While in Kosice, Kris coordinated four different AIM teams. Presently, Kris has returned to Lubbock in order to work as the Coordinator for the AIM program.
